Opportunities to Include Health Economics in Substance Use Disorder Research

Dr. Schackman will describe types of health economics research relevant to substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions, how health economics can be incorporated into clinical trials of screening and treatment interventions, and how health economics researchers can collaborate with substance use disorder researchers conducting observational and implementation studies. Examples will be drawn from Dr. Schackman’s recent and ongoing collaborations related to opioid use disorder treatment and to screening and care for HIV and HCV in substance use treatment settings.
